Šitbořice cycle ball in summer 2025
We bring you a summary of events and results from the quiet summer part of the 2025 cycle ball season.
Matěj Šabata and Vítek Doležal confirmed their role as favourites in June and comfortably won the Czech Cup youth finals. Their teammates Jan Franěk and Filip Kyzlink finished 8th against older opponents, which is a very good result for their age and a promising sign for the future.
The highlight of the season came on home ground at the Czech Youth Championship in the Šitbořice gym. The home number one pair Šabata/Doležal was the clear favourite, having not lost a single match all season. In the end, however, the boys unfortunately lost the final to Sokol Zlín by the narrow score of 0:1 and finished second. A loss in the only match of the season is cruel, but the silver medal still confirms their exceptional level. They will certainly fight for the title again next year, when they have a great chance to bring it back to Šitbořice.
In the under-23 category, Šitbořice was represented by two pairs. The combined team Dominik Šabata / Martin Konečný (Šitbořice/Svitávka) won an excellent 3rd place at the Czech Championship. Given that the competition also includes teams regularly playing in the men's 1st league, this is a great achievement. The second Šitbořice team Vojtěch Nečas / Ondřej Valíček fought bravely and finished 6th. Both teams showed they belong among the country's elite and their potential continues to grow.
Attention now turns to the elite adult competitions. In mid-September, the newly assembled Šitbořice team will enter the 1st round of the 2nd League, where the main goal will be to fight for the best possible finish and promotion to the higher league next season.
Even more important will be the end of September — that's when the last round of the Extraliga will be played, which will decide whether Šitbořice can qualify for the Czech Championship. Qualification would be a historic milestone for our club.
