Šitbořice cycle ball in autumn 2024

While the youth categories had their 2024 season mostly completed by late autumn, the elite cycle ball season picked up intensity. Specifically, Šitbořice teams had 2 rounds of the 1st Elite League and all 3 rounds of the 2nd Elite League ahead of them.

Šitbořice played the first round of the 1st Elite League in the lineup Drabálek / Starý. Gaining 10 points suggested that the fight for promotion places was wide open. In the next two rounds, Šitbořice played in the lineup Drabálek / Topolář. The second round and 13 points gained meant a move to the second promotion spot. The league was very competitive this year and promotion was decided only in the last match of the final 3rd round. In the end, Šitbořice managed to succeed and after five years advanced among the 7 best domestic teams to the highest Czech elite competition — the Extraliga, which they will play in 2025.

In the 2nd Elite League, a young Šitbořice team of Dominik Šabata / Šimon Urbánek competed. The opening 1st round took place on home ground and the Šitbořice team built a solid foundation for the rest of the competition. The possibility of promotion to the 1st League was ultimately decided in an additional promotion match in the final 3rd round against Olomouc. The match ended 2:3 and unfortunately Dominik and Šimon did not manage to advance this year. However, even staying in the 2nd League, where our young team competed against much older opponents, can still be considered a great success.

The freshly junior team of Vojtěch Nečas / Matěj Šabata completed a key qualifying tournament weekend for the 1st Junior League at the beginning of October. After very close results, Šitbořice unfortunately did not manage to advance to the 1st Junior League. Promotion was missed literally in the last second and was decided by a single conceded goal.

The Šitbořice youth number one pair Matěj Šabata / Vítek Doležal is currently doing very well in the new 2024/2025 season. The boys have won all Czech Cup youth rounds so far and are on an excellent track to defend the Czech Youth Championship title, which was won this June by the pair Matěj Šabata / Vojtěch Nečas. The considerably younger second Šitbořice youth pair Filip Kyzlink / Mikuláš Doležal is bravely fighting in their first Czech Cup competitions, improving rapidly and collecting their first competitive points against opponents.

Among planned competitions, the traditional Grand Prix Šitbořice elite definitely deserves mention, which will take place on 21–22 February 2025. Last year's spectator attendance was excellent. We would be delighted if you come again to support the home teams.
