Šitbořice cycle ball in spring 2025

We bring you a summary of events and results from the spring part of the 2025 cycle ball season.

The first Šitbořice youth team of Matěj Šabata / Vítek Doležal is absolutely dominant in the youth category — they comfortably win every tournament. In June, two key tournaments await them — the Czech Cup finals and the Czech Championship finals, where they are among the main favourites for the title in both cases. If they succeed, they can follow up on last year's success and bring the Czech Republic championship title back to Šitbořice. Moreover, Matěj and Vítek will continue in this category next year, giving them excellent prospects for the future. The second Šitbořice youth pair, Mikuláš Doležal / Filip Kyzlink, is significantly younger and their main goal for now is gaining match experience. They are in the middle of the table, gradually improving, and we believe their time will come.

In the 1st junior league, Šitbořice was represented by the pair Matěj Šabata / Vojtěch Nečas, who were primarily gaining valuable experience against older opponents. During the season, the boys were around 6th-7th place in the table. Although they didn't manage to qualify for the Czech Championship, nothing is lost — they have several more seasons ahead in this category to continue developing their performance.

In the under-23 category, the newly formed pair Dominik Šabata / Martin Konečný represents Šitbořice. The decision to play in this lineup seems very good so far. In extremely strong competition, where even Extraliga players compete, they hold an excellent 3rd place. The highlight of the season will be the Czech Championship finals, which will take place on 28 June.

In the Extraliga, the highest Czech cycle ball competition, this year's goal for Šitbořice is to qualify for the Czech Championship. This would be a historic achievement for the club. Šitbořice play in a new lineup, with local Martin Drabálek joined by former Brno player Jan Havlíček. Three out of four Extraliga rounds have been played so far. In the first round they gained 8 points, in the second 4 points, and in the third even 9 points. They are currently in 5th place out of 7 teams. The last fourth Extraliga round will take place on 27 September.
